Ellacombe C of E Academy, which is part of the Learning Academy Partnership, has introduced a ‘home away from home’ for pupils and families to enjoy and access support.
The new family support area has been repurposed from one of the previous meeting rooms and has been designed to provide a calm, cosy, and family-friendly space for everyone to enjoy.
To ensure full inclusivity, the academy has designed the room to be fitting for all families, including those with babies and preschool children as they have added playing areas with toys and baby changing facilities.
The room has lush furnishings that are comfortable and casual, warm lighting, plants to brighten the area and privacy screens to fit family needs. The upgrades and changes aim to help provide a safe and secure environment for families and pupils to enjoy.
For parents and pupils, the support room also includes a storage space for resources that are accessible to the families. This includes food essentials, nappies and sanitary wipes, clothing, and other toys that parents can take at their own discretion.
The addition of this room forms part of the academy’s vision and commitment to supporting families to flourish.
Evie Semmens, Head Teacher at Ellacombe C of E Academy, said: “I am so proud that we are able to provide such an important space for our pupils and their families. A crucial component of ensuring our pupils are able to flourish is providing care and support to their families and our wider community.
“The addition of the support room enables us to keep to the mission of creating an environment that focuses on working together and achieving success for all.”
