All Saints Marsh C of E Academy, which is a part of the Learning Academy Partnership, are delighted to share some of their favourite books with Lwendulu Primary School in Zimbabwe, through their recent book donation.
This initiative was made possible by Mrs Babbage, a former Year 6 teacher at All Saints Marsh, and her family who organised the books to be sent to the school in Zimbabwe.
In the spirit of sustainability and shared learning, the books that previously filled the school library were donated to the school in Zimbabwe. This follows the opening of All Saints Marsh brand new library this past July. The children of Lwendulu Primary School were delighted to receive such a vast array of books, so they had the tools to help kickstart a brand-new library at their school.
Excited about the prospect of expanding opportunities for the pupils, the leadership team of Lwendulu Primary School have begun to formulate a plan that will allow students to maximise the potential of the library.
Mrs Babbadge, former Year 6 teacher at All Saints Marsh, said: “My family and I were delighted to distribute these valuable resources to a place where they were needed the most. Access to a range of books can help to instil a love of reading in every child and really make a difference to their education.”
Mrs P. Sikale, Headteacher at Lwendulu Primary School, said: “The books have been a great tool in helping our pupils to learn English, as well as encouraging our children to read for pleasure because of the variety we now have.”
Miss Watson, Trust Lead for English at the Learning Academy Partnership, said: “This is a wonderful example of the power of sharing a story. We are delighted that the children from Lwendulu Primary School can enjoy the books which we have loved reading at All Saints Marsh.”
